While I was growing up, there was a female politician who was deeply respected and loved in our community. Everyone called her “Mama All” because of the maternal love she showed to everyone, regardless of religion, tribe, or denomination. When election time came, the majority of the people voted for her with high hopes. But to our dismay, she was denied her rightful victory. The leadership position was handed to someone we never expected—a man who had no genuine interest in the well-being of the people. His only advantage was being male. Mama All was outstanding, inclusive, and courageous. She always stood for the truth. The day she eased a long-standing trauma in our society was the moment she earned deep respect from everyone. Nigeria's political economy and Civic engagement are deeply intertwined, with the country's transition to democracy in 1999 marking a significant turning point. Despite challenges, Nigeria has made notable advances toward good governance, bolstered by a strong civil society tradition reflecting its diverse population.  According to Civic engagement initiatives several initiatives are been gathered to promote Civic engagement in Nigeria and these include: - Strengthening Advocacy and Civic Engagement (SACE): A project aimed at enhancing advocacy and civic engagement, with a focus on good governance and democratic participation. - Civic Education: Incorparated into Nigeria's education curriculum through the Nigeria policy on education (2003), emphasising citizens' rights and responsibilities in a democratic society. - Civil Society Organizations: Playing a crucial role in promoting civic engagement, accountability, and transparency.
