The Civic Voice of Students: Why We Can’t Afford Silence on Campus Issues

  Across campuses in Nigeria today, countless decisions that shape our future are made with little or no student input. Hostel fees rise while living conditions remain stagnant. Academic policies shift overnight. Welfare programmes are promised but never materialise. Yet, in the face of these realities, the most powerful stakeholder group on campus — the students — often remains silent. Silence may feel safe, but it is rarely neutral. When we withhold our voices, we indirectly approve of policies and practices that harm us.
