Nigeria’s Growing Youth Disillusionment: A Generation Losing Faith

Nigeria’s youth population is  the largest in Africa, yet an increasing number of young people are becoming disillusioned with the country’s political and socio-economic system. For many, the promise of democracy feels distant. Rising unemployment, economic hardship, and a perceived lack of accountability in governance have contributed to a growing sense of frustration among young Nigerians. “I don’t see the impact of my vote,” says a university student in Abuja, reflecting a sentiment shared by many of his peers. “It feels like nothing really changes.” This feeling of disconnect is not isolated.
